Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about what cmdgen is today, what it costs, and how to use it.

Is cmdgen free?

Yes. Browsing cmdgen is free, and it asks you for nothing — no accounts, no sign-up, no payment. The third-party tools it recommends have their own pricing; many offer a free tier, and we note that on the tools page.

Can I generate something here right now?

Not yet. cmdgen's own interactive generator is still being built. For now the site is an honest, curated guide to the best AI generators you can use today — grouped by what you want to make. When the built-in generator is ready, it will be announced here.

What can AI generate?

Plenty. Images and art, short video and animation, 3D models you can print, music and voice, and text or code. The examples page shows what's realistic from a plain description, and each medium has its own guide: images, video, 3D & printing, audio and text & code.

Which tool is best?

It depends on what you're making. Each medium guide gives a short "which one should you use?" recommendation for common cases — see AI tools by type.

Can I use what I generate commercially?

Often, but not always — it depends on the tool and your plan. Licences and commercial-use rights vary, and a free tier usually grants fewer rights than a paid one. Always check the specific tool's terms before you publish, sell or print generated work.

Do you collect my data?

No cookies, no tracking scripts and no accounts. Like any website, cmdgen keeps basic server logs (IP address, browser, the page you came from) for security and simple traffic counts, and nothing is sold or shared. More on the about page.

Is cmdgen affiliated with these tools?

No. cmdgen is independent and not affiliated with any tool it links to. Recommendations are editorial, and there are no paid placements.
